William Carlson

William J. “Bill” Carlson, Sr., 63, of Orrstown, passed away the evening of Thursday, March 23, 2023 at the WellSpan York Hospital with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on June 19, 1959 in Massapequa, New York, the son of the late Harold and Frances (Barcia) Carlson.

Bill was a 1977 graduate of Berner High School in Massapequa, NY. He worked in architectural millwork on Long Island, NY and more recently worked in building and grounds maintenance for the Chambersburg School District. Bill was a Scout Leader, member of the Carpenters Union, and was of the Catholic Faith.

Bill was extremely active during his lifetime. He made carpentry into an art and was an astounding blues guitarist. He was a true outdoorsman who loved kayaking, fishing, fishkeeping, beekeeping, and cycling. Anything Bill did in life, he did to the fullest. He was a Brown Belt in Tang Soo Do, loved RC cars and Pac-Man, and was a Bonsai tree enthusiast. Above all else, Bill was a selfless human being who loved, cherished, and devoted himself and his time to his family.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathryn E. (Worthington) Carlson of Orrstown; four children, William J. (Kylie) Carlson, Jr. of Newport News, VA, Elizabeth V. Carlson of Orrstown, Harry W. Carlson of Orrstown, and Garrett C. (Nicole) Carlson of Brunswick, GA; and two grandchildren, Lillian B. and Finnley O. Carlson.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or service at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to the Red Tomato Farm, 2019 N. 2nd St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.
