William “Bill” Jones passed away peacefully on May 9, 2026, at Mercy House in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.
Bill was born on August 13, 1938, in Huntsdale, Pennsylvania, to John and Eva Jones. He graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1956 and went on to work for 26 years at Carlisle Tire & Rubber.
Bill enjoyed life’s simple pleasures and was known for his love of bowling, horseshoe pitching, playing cards, and taking bus trips with family and friends. He was also a lifelong baseball fan who cheered on his favorite teams, the Atlanta Braves and the Baltimore Orioles.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty (Burkett) Jones of Shippensburg, Pennsylvania; his daughter, Wilma Jones of Everett, Washington; his granddaughter, Jessica McGinley, and her husband Steven; and his great-grandchildren, Lochlan and Kennedy McGinley, also of Everett, Washington, as well as many nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Eva Jones, and his siblings, Robert Jones, Marcella Kepler, and Herman Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. Burial will follow at Westminster Cemetery in Carlisle. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Mercy House for the care and comfort they provided to Bill in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s honor to Mercy House of Chambersburg, 730 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
