Violet R. Feirrell, 94, of Newport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at her home.

She was born on February 18, 1932 in Greene County, Indiana, a daughter of the late James F. and Audrey L. Roberts Brinegar.

Violet worked as a nursing assistant and retired from UPMC Community Osteopathic Hospital in Harrisburg after 28 years of service.

She is survived by eight children, Ann Marie (Bruce) Van Arsdale of South Bend, IN, Charles R. (Annette) Feirrell of South Bend, IN, Margaret L. Jones of Harrisburg, William R. Feirrell of Enola, Daniel R. (Debra) Feirrell of Mechanicsburg, Mary M. “Mickey” (Bradley) Schaeffer of Newport, Heather J. (Stephen) Hayes of South Carolina, and Rita L. Feirrell of South Bend, IN; 10 grandchildren, Angela (William) Fowler, Daniel (Dana) Crum, Kevin Crum, Jeffrey Crum, Todd Feirrell, Audrey (Brett) Zimmerman, Kelsey (Drew) Kline, Stephanie Hayes, William (Tasha) Smith, and Tracie (David) Arndt; and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Feirrell; one grandson, Michael Richard Feirrell; and two siblings, Charles Brinegar and Carol Powers.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Per Violet’s wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service.
