Vera Jane Fahnestock, 94, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Paramount Senior Living. Born September 22, 1931, in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late David N. and Izora M. Barrick Perry.

After graduating from Shippensburg High School in 1949, Jane worked briefly for the Pennsylvania Department of Forests and Waters as a clerk before accepting a position as a secretary in the Adjutant’s Office of Letterkenny. In 1958, she transferred to the Department of Health, Education and Welfare within the Social Security Administration where she remained until her retirement. Jane was an active member of the former Cold Springs United Brethren Church, serving in various board roles over the years, as well as a Sunday School teacher, and an occasional organist and pianist. She was a past president for the Falling Springs Nursing Home Auxiliary.

Jane is survived by two children, Deborah J. Hammond and husband Randy of Chambersburg, and David E. Fahnestock and wife Julia of Shippensburg; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two nephews, Greg Perry of Berlington, Iowa, and James Perry of Waynesboro. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Edward E. Fahnestock and a brother, David R. Perry of Waynesboro.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Sunday, March 22, 2026, at the Agape Christian Fellowship, 1051 Brookens Road, Fayetteville. Pastors Rod Thomas, Mike Rodriguez and Gayle Ruble, Sr. will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Condolences and memories may be shared at fogelsanger-brickerfuneralhome.com.
