Twila B. Long, 85, of Newville, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Green Ridge Village.
Born October 27, 1940, in Blairs Mills, Huntingdon County, PA, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence E. and Dorothy F. Fultz Book.
Twila worked as a clerk for Penelec for 22 years and 16 years at Dickinson College in the Student Accounts Office. She attended the Carlisle First Church of God.
After her husband Kennth passed away, Twila became a resident at Green Ridge Village in Newville. She loved living there for the past 12 years. Twila was always the first to sign up for activities and bus trips. She had a friend circle with whom she shared many fun outings.
Twila loved and cherished her family, and will be sadly missed by all. She enjoyed spending time with them, and attending their sporting events.
Twila was a devout Christian whose life was a radiant reflection of her deep and unwavering love for Jesus Christ. For all who knew her, her faith was not just a part of her life—it was her very essence. She walked through this world guided by her favorite bible verse, Matthew 5:16.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Her legacy of faith will continue to inspire her family and friends, and while she will be deeply missed, there is comfort in knowing Twila is finally resting in the arms of her Savior, hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
She is survived by her brother, Larry E. (Joyce) Book, Mechanicsburg; three sisters in-law, Mary Ann Fogelsanger, Linda Rosenberry, and Dottie Martin; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Kenneth Long, Jr., who passed away December 9, 2014, and whom she married April 1, 1967 in Blairs Mills; and a sister and brother-in-law, Aileen B. and Arvile J. Leonard.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Carlisle First Church of God, 705 Glendale Street, Carlisle, PA 17013, with Pastor Michael Poe officiating. Burial will be held in the Spring Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pregnancy Ministries, Inc., P. O. Box 941, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or https://pregnancyministries.org.
