Steven Paul Brenize, 71, passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born Tuesday, January 25, 1955 in Chambersburg, he was a son of the late Paul W. and Doris M. (Crider) Brenize.

Steve attended the Prince Street United Brethren Church in Shippensburg since 2007 being involved with many events and activities. He was a counselor for several summers at Camp Penn, and participated in nursing home ministries for several nursing homes.

He worked for Paul Stewart Hedge Brothers Concrete & Construction, and one other concrete business, and the state of Pennsylvania. His other jobs include The Tropical Treat, Hedge’s Garage, Mont Alto Nursery, TB Woods Inc., The United Methodist Home for Children, Mechanicsburg, The Lumber Yard, Lemoyne, and New Visions, Shippensburg.

In 1982 he became a licensed insurance agent for Baltimore Life, Life of Maryland, Mutual of Omaha, Monumental Life, and last Erie Insurance, working at Cramer Insurance office. Steve also operated his own business, Brenize Insurance Service, and was co-owner of Protect Ship, retiring in 2018.

Steve was a member of the LSL Sportsman Club, Orrstown, Lonestar Hunting Club, Shippensburg Fish and Game Association, past President of the Franklin County Life Underwriters Association.

He enjoyed hunting, collecting and trading firearms, and talking and praying with others.

Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Anita L. (Vaughn) Brenize, whom he married May 3, 1986; four sons, Steven D. (Angela) Brenize, Joseph R. Brenize, Anthony L. Brenize, and Robert S. Brenize; two grandchildren, Jocelin R. Brown, and Newell D. Brenize; three aunts, Sally Crider, Charlotte Crider, and Bertha (Paul) Kolva; one uncle, Galen (Linda) Brenize; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince Street United Brethren Church, with Pastor John W. Shadle officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Prince Street United Brethren Church, 17 N. Penn Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257 or the Harbor Church of the Nazarene, 55 W. King Street, Shippensburg, PA 17257.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
