Stephen Edward Rosenberry, 77, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, January 3, 2026, at the WellSpan York Hospital.
He was born in Chambersburg, on January 24, 1948, a son of the late George and Lorraine (Crusey) Rosenberry. Steve was a U.S. Navy Veteran, enlisting on July 14, 1967 and honorably discharged on April 1, 1971. He married Donna May Holtry on October 10, 1970, in the Messiah United Methodist Church, Shippensburg.
Steve had a thirty-six year career as a civil servant, working for the United States Postal Service. He started in 1972 as a mail carrier out of Shippensburg, then was eventually promoted to interim postmaster for many small offices throughout central Pennsylvania, and finished his career in 2008 as a business mail analyst working out of Washington, D.C.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but especially surf fishing. His favorite place to surf fish was Bethany Beach, Delaware, where the family spent many summer vacations. He had his boat to fish from and also fixed up a 1996 Ford F-150 to tow it, and named it “High Tide.” Family was of utmost importance to Stephen and he so loved spending time at the shore, fishing, and hosting large meals. In younger years, he was an assistant Scout Master for his son’s Boy Scout Troop, and was well known for his many and stylish collection of cowboy boots, and his love of wolves.
In addition to his wife of fifty five years, Donna, he is survived by two sons, Stephen E. Rosenberry, II and wife Mindy of Shippensburg, and Chad S. Rosenberry and wife Heather of Chambersburg; six grandchildren, Cole and Grace Rosenberry; and Dana, Janelle, Carmen, and Darren Rosenberry; a great granddaughter, Brynlee Mae Rosenberry; and his brother, Dennis Lloyd Rosenberry and wife Bonnie of Chambersburg.
