Ruth Rozella Fitz

Ruth Rozella Fitz, 91, of Chambersburg and formerly of Shippensburg, passed away Monday, September 8, 2025 at Laurel lakes Rehabilitation Center in Chambersburg.

Born Saturday, October 21, 1933 in Shippensburg, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Jacob A. and Alverna Mary Myers Gontz.

Ruth retired from the former Stanley Company in Shippensburg, with over 38 years of service. She was a member of the Chambersburg Baptist Church, and a member and former Vice President of AARP Chapter # 2525, Shippensburg.

Later in life, Ruth worked as a caregiver for Lutheran Home Care Services and also privately.

She is survived by one son, Stephen R. (Christine) Rotz; four grandchildren, Clifton, Jason (wife Erin), Beau, and Joshua Rotz; two great-granddaughters, Hailey and Chloe Rotz; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Fitz; one son, David M. Rotz; four sisters; and three brothers.

A celebration of life service will be held Monday, September 15, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc, with The Rev. John Healey officiating. Burial will be private. A visitation will be held from 5:30 p.m. until the time of the service on Monday, at the funeral home.
