Ruth A. (McClain) Grosh Bistline, 92, of Newburg, passed away the morning of Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at her home.
She was born on January 4, 1934, in Waterfall, PA, Fulton County, a daughter of the late Firmen D. and Rachel A. (Leidy) McClain.
Ruth earned her master’s degree in elementary education from the former Shippensburg State Teachers College. She then worked as an elementary school teacher for 31 years for Shippensburg Area School District. Ruth was a faithful member of Newburg First Church of God. She enjoyed gardening and playing the piano.
She is survived by one son, David L. Grosh and wife Brenda of Enola; two granddaughters, Jessica Tuttle and husband Josiah of Iowa, and Jenna Croce and husband Lucas of South Carolina; and four stepchildren, Roger Bistline and wife Kathy of Cove Gap, PA, Ruby Garner and husband Ronald of St. Thomas, Diane Cummings and husband Steven of Tennessee, and Ronda Williams and husband William of Carlisle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Frederick A. Grosh, who passed away on January 3, 1987; second husband, Ray E. Bistline, who passed away on October 28, 2000; and three sisters, Dorothy Knepper, Hilda Leidig, and Betty Hann.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newburg First Church of God, 260 Newburg Rd., Newburg, PA 17240. Pastor Megan Gustafson and Pastor Dale Miller will officiate. Burial will follow at Otterbein Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
