Ronald Eugene “Ron” Fraker, 83, of Shippensburg, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at the Orrstown Personal Care Home.
Born Sunday, May 31, 1942 in Carlisle, Cumberland County, he was a son of the late George L. and Thelma L. Lynch Fraker.
Ron was a 1961 graduate of the Shippensburg Area High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Police Officer at Shippensburg University, and later worked as a groundskeeper, retiring in 2002 after 35 years of service.
He was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg. Ron was a life member of the Durff-Kuhn VFW Post # 6168, where he served on their Military Honor Guard; a life member of the Hub City Club, and a 50 year member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223, all in Shippensburg, he was also a member of the AmVets Post # 224, in Chambersburg.
Ron was a Little League Baseball Coach, played on an adult softball team, loved playing golf, bowling, and horse racing. Later in Ron’s life, he loved his sweets.
He loved and cherished his family, especially his wife and mother.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary E. Farner Fraker, whom he married October 14, 2000; daughter, Michelle Fraker (Bob) Doble, Harrisburg; step daughter, Sue (Frank) Dangello, Shippensburg; step son, Ed L. (Tammy) Reese, Shippensburg; grandson, R.J. Doble, Harrisburg; step granddaughter, Katie E. (Tim) Mills, Chambersburg; step great-grandson, Quentin G. Mills, Chambersburg; and sister, Sharon Knouse, Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Fraker.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with The Rev. George W. Heckard officiating. Burial will be private. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service on Monday, at the funeral home. Military Honors will be conducted by the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post # 223 Minutemen in the funeral home parking lot immediately following the service.
