Roland E. Schaeffer, 77, of Shippensburg, formerly of Hampstead, MD, passed away unexpectedly the afternoon of Monday, May 12, 2025 at his home.
He was born on June 7, 1947 in Greenmount, MD, son of the late Elwood C. and Miriam P. (Yost) Schaeffer. He was married to Theresa E. (Conroy) Schaeffer.
Roland grew up in Lineboro, MD and was a 1965 graduate of North Carroll High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1982 from Towson University. He was a United States Air Force veteran who served a tour of duty in Germany as a staff sergeant from 1967 to 1970. Roland worked as a financial manager for 37 years from 1965 to 2002 for Black & Decker. He retired in 2017 after working as a controller for The Advantage Group for 13 years.
Roland loved to travel and was an avid sports fan, especially the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. He enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Roland will surely miss his family, particularly watching his grandkids grow up.
In addition to his wife of 28 years, Theresa, he is survived by three children, Todd M. Schaeffer and wife Amy, Jennifer M. (Jones) Mulligan and husband Patrick, and Timothy Jones and fiancé Andrea; 10 grandchildren, Maya, MacKenzie, Jacob, Colton, and Logan Schaeffer, Collin and Caitlin Mulligan, Cole Jones and wife Maddie, Braden Jones, and Lydia Robison; one sister, Ruthetta V. Meckley; and daughter-in-law, Shannon Schaeffer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Scott R. Schaeffer; sister, Shirley A. Lacomare and her husband John; and brother-in-law, Gene Meckley.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 11:00 am at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, 2800 Old Westminster Pike, Finksburg, MD 21048. Military honors to be conducted.
