Listen to Obituary

Robert “Bob” Dale Alleman, 93, departed this life on the morning of Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at his home.

He was born at his grandparent’s house in Shippensburg, on November 18, 1932, to the late Raymond and Rosa (Barnhart) Alleman. Bob was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the 3D Armored Calvary Regiment at Camp Pickett, VA. He married Martha “Phyllis” Reese on October 5, 1965, in Hagerstown, MD. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2017, after fifty-two years of marriage.

Bob worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot as an electrician and worked on the Hawk missles, for thirty-nine years, retiring in 1987. He attended the Prince Street United Brethren Church earlier in life and most recently the Cleversburg United Methodist Church.

Bob loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. He played and coached the Prince Street Church softball team, loved Penn State, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bob liked going to auctions, tinkering in the shed and garage, and playing solitaire and doing crossword puzzles on his laptop.

Bob loved to travel and took many beach and camping trips with a full van load. He traveled numerous times to Germany with work, and he, his wife, and daughter, traveled to and lived in Huntsville, AL, Barstow, CA, and El Paso, TX.

Bob was a man of few words at times but loved to tell his stories about all of his adventures. He was devoted to reading the Bible and taking care of his family whenever he was needed.

Bob is survived by four children, Angela Barmont, Cheryl “Sherry” Wenger, Carol Helm, and Dean (Ellen) Gutshall, all of Shippensburg; seven grandchildren, Samantha (Brady) Wheeler, Dawn (Mike) Osterman, Greg (Paula) Helm, Robyn (Brian) Foster, Adam (Christina) Gutshall, Shawn (Shawn) Wenger, and Alan Gutshall; fifteen great grandchildren, Rylee, Eyan, Shain, Caden, Marshall, Ava, Emmitt, Hayley, Olivia, Noah, Hayden, Morgan, Desi, Wyatt and Issac; one great great grandson, Jettson; four siblings, Elizabeth “Patsy” Barner, Lois (John) Timmons, Doris (Boyd) Hey, and Ralph (Cheryl) Alleman; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and spouse, Bob was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Myers; and three siblings, John and Don Alleman, and Martha Reineman.
