Richard Charles "Rick" Meily

Richard C. “Rick” Meily, 76, of Shippensburg, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at the Fahrney-Keedy Senior Living Community in Boonsboro, MD, with his daughter by his side.

Born Tuesday, June 21, 1949 in Carlisle, PA, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Violet Snyder Meily.

Richard resided in Shippensburg most of his life. Rick was a 1957 graduate of the Big Spring High School. He spent his entire working career as a salesman. He enjoyed working outside, tinkering with handyman tasks, caring for his Great Danes, watching TV, and spending time with his family.

Rick is survived by one daughter, Kaitlyn (Jason) Oates, Prince Frederick, MD; and many nieces and nephews, including Timothy (Betsy) Shaffer to whom he was very close.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Marguerite A. “Margie” (Harnish) Meily, who passed away April 14, 2016; and three sisters, Shelby Shaffer, Edna Hoffman, and Connie High.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 2:30 p.m. in the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., with Pastor Kevin Dunlap officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
