Richard R. "Rick" Gutshall

Richard R. “Rick” Gutshall, 71, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Mercy House, Chambersburg.

He was born on June 29, 1955, in Doylesburg, a son of the late Lawrence D. Gutshall and Faye F. (Foose) Gift. Rick was a 1974 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School and married Patricia A. “Patti” Thomas on December 24, 1976.

For the majority of his career, Rick worked for Electrolux in Chambersburg for twenty-seven years and then at JLG in Shippensburg for eight and a half years, retiring in 2021. He was a member and past vice president of the LSL Sportsman’s Club, Orrstown and enjoyed hunting and camping in his free time.

In addition to his wife of fifty years, Patti, he is survived by two sons, Bradley A. Gutshall and wife Deanna and Richard R. Gutshall, Jr., both of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Cassidy, Bailey, and Kaylee; three brothers, George L., Randy W., and Roger L. Gutshall; two sisters, Patricia “Lillian” Swartz and Anna Beidel; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by a brother, Lawrence D. Gutshall, II.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Rich Rotz will officiate. Interment will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
