Readith “Kay” Lindsey, 72, of Shippensburg departed this life on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on Tuesday, May 15, 1951, the daughter of the late Frank T. and Bertha V. (Helm) Smith. Kay married Reginald L. Lindsey on April 12, 1970 at the Shippensburg Covenant Brethren Church.
Kay worked in housekeeping, as a custodian, at Shippensburg University, for over twenty years. Prior to working at the University, she was self-employed and worked for many businesses in the Shippensburg area. She took great pride in cleaning and was always a very hard worker.
Kay was a member of the Shippensburg Covenant Brethren Church where she was an active member. She always enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many friends and she had a love for all of her dogs and cats. Kay was known to be an excellent cook and she always enjoyed the holidays with her family.
In addition to her husband of fifty-three years, Reginald, she is survived by one son, Bobby J. (Mickie L.) Lindsey; one daughter, Tonya M. (Richard A.) Green; three grandchildren, Alissa, Cedric, and Kira Green all of Shippensburg, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur E. Smith, Sr.; and one sister, Dora Smith.
Kay’s service will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home and Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Wayne Hall will officiate. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill Cemetery. Viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday morning.
