Phyllis J. (Bowers) Valentine, 95, lifelong resident of Shippensburg, passed away on the morning of Friday, August 1, 2025, at Celebration Villa of Shippensburg.

She was born on Monday, March 17, 1930 in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late Rennes F. and Helen V. (Mundorff) Bowers, Sr.

Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Shippensburg High School and worked at the former Piezo (crystal plant) in Carlisle. She was a faithful member of Grace United Church of Christ for 74 years, where she participated in the Women’s Alter Guild. She had a love for church and her friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley E. Day and husband Robert of Shippensburg, and Teena V. Russell and husband Richard of Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Jody Nave and husband Aaron of Shippensburg, Bridgette Piper of Harrisburg, and Brooke Russell of King of Prussia; four great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Grace, Camryn, and Ayslin; one great-great-grandchild, Oaklie; and one sister, Dorothy Wright.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward O. Valentine, who passed away on December 23, 2001. Also preceding in death is one daughter, Gretchen L. Cornnell; and six siblings, Jack “Bun” Bowers, Sr., Rennes Bowers, Jr., James Bowers, Richard Bowers, Beverly Boofer, and Helen Catherine Doyle.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Interment with graveside services will be privately held at Parklawns Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Church of Christ, 121 E. Orange St., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
