Phyllis M Martin, 79, of Chambersburg, peacefully entered her heavenly home on Monday, February 23, 2026, following a sudden heart attack.
Born October 24, 1946 in Chambersburg, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Carrie (Wadel) Stewart. She is survived by husband Glenn E. Martin. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary March 19, 2026.
She graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1964 and worked as a seamstress at Stanley Company. After her marriage to Glenn, they moved to Norristown during his 1W service. After his time of service, they moved back to Chambersburg area where she served alongside her husband in dairy and poultry farming for 53 years.
An adventurer at heart, she enjoyed backpacking in West Virginia, snowmobiling, walking, and biking. In her later years she and Glenn enjoyed spontaneous day trips. She cherished family, often making pies and sharing rides with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on the family farm trails. Phyl was a dedicated homemaker and a member of Rowe Mennonite Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Carleen (Jerry) Martin of Ephrata, and Anne (Dean) Brubaker of Bethel; one daughter-in-law, Tressa Martin of Chambersburg; two brothers, Paul (Norma) Stewart of West Virginia and John (Connie) Stewart of Chambersburg; one sister, Carolyn (Wayne) Martin of Shippensburg; 13 grandchildren; and 26 great- grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Keith E. Martin; and a sister, Karen Stewart.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Rowe Mennonite Church, 754 Pinola Rd., Shippensburg, PA with church ministry officiating. A viewing will be held Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rowe Mennonite Church, and one hour prior to the service on Friday. Private burial will be at Old Rowe Mennonite Cemetery.
