Phyllis L. Marpoe, 86, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Thursday, September 25, 2025, at her home.

She was born on December 13, 1938, in Shippensburg, a daughter of the late John E. and Thelma (Spangler) Black. Phyllis married Harold A. Marpoe, Jr., on December 10, 1970, in Georgia. He preceded her in death on July 4, 2012.

Phyllis was a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed baking, reading murder mysteries, watching old classic television shows, and helping various charities.

Phyllis is survived by two sons, Bryan Keith Marpoe and Jeffrey Lynn Kauffman, both of Shippensburg; three step-sons, Harold Edward Marpoe, Sr., David Arnold Marpoe, and Joseph Boyd Marpoe; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Edward Marpoe.

A private graveside funeral service will be held in the Ridge Cemetery, Shippensburg. Pastor Ken Waggoner will officiate. There will be no public viewing or visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriner’s International or the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter.
