Pauline B. Bender

Pauline B. Bender, 99, of Newburg, passed away Thursday, October 29, 2026 at the Fulton County Medical Center surrounded by her loving family

Born on Tuesday, February 1, 1927, she was a daughter of the late John I. and Helen Grace Shuman Rebok.

Pauline was a 1945 graduate of Shippensburg Area Senior High School. She was a faithful member of the Newburg United Methodist Church, as well as Senior Citizens #1 of Orrstown, Rebecca’s Lodge in Newburg, and AARP. Pauline loved bowling and achieved several 600 series. She also enjoyed playing cards.

She is survived by five children, Paul (Deborah) Bender of Newburg, Philip Bender of Orrstown, Richard Bender of Newburg, Samuel Bender of Shippensburg, and Ruth (Edgar) Hoover of Newburg; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; a brother, John A. Rebok of Newburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Samuel A. “Sam” Bender, who passed away November 9, 2015; a daughter, Connie L. Ross; a daughter-in-law, Jane Bender; and three sisters, M. Ruth Nye, Edith Holtry, and Helen L. Tosten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Newburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor Kevin Brophy officiating. Burial will take place in Pleasant Hall Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, November 6, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc., as well as one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
