Miriam Ferne Shenk, 55, of Newburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Monday, April 13, 2020, at her home.
She was born on March 30, 1965, in Harrisonburg, VA, a daughter of the late Harold H. and Edna R. (Shantz) Shenk.
Miriam worked on the family farm and also as a housekeeper for a period of time. In her free time, she loved to entertain company at her home.
She is survived by two sisters, Reba A. Shenk of Newburg, and Elizabeth F. Weaver and husband Ammon of Lebanon; six brothers, Nathan H. Shenk and wife Betty of Utica, OH, Wilmer I. Shenk and wife Mary Kate of Dublin, GA, Dwight D. Shenk and wife Ellen of Kingston, OH, David E. Shenk and wife Mabel of Greenwich, OH, Paul R. Shenk of Myerstown, and Eldon J. Shenk and wife Esther of Lebanon; forty one nieces and nephews; numerous great and great great nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
In addition to her parents, Miriam was preceded in death by one brother, Stanley J. Shenk, and a sister-in-law, Rachael Shenk.
Her private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at the Rowe Mennonite Church, Shippensburg. The Newburg Mennonite Church ministry will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. There will be no public viewing or visitation.
