Merle E. Snoke

Merle E. Snoke, 92, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at The Church of God Home, Carlisle.

He was the husband of Pauline (Zullinger) Snoke with whom he shared 68 years of marriage. Merle, a son of the late Joseph and Eva (Jamison) Snoke, was born in Chambersburg. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Carol Shearer; and grandson, Nicholas Shearer, husband of Hayley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Kough; and a son-in-law, Wayne Shearer.

While residing in Walnut Bottom, he was a very active member of Centerville Lutheran Church. He was a 1950 graduate of Carlisle High School. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, he began his career with Blessing’s. Later, Merle settled in with Lee McBeth Bus Co. where he was affectionately known as Soupy, retiring in 1996 after 33 years of service. He was also a member of the Liko Hunting Camp, where he enjoyed many years of hunting and fishing. He proudly hung his 11-point buck in the “garage.” His very special friend Arthur Danner was often his partner in hunting and fishing crimes. He especially loved spending time with his friends, family, and the grand pups. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Mike Faust officiating. Burial will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Centerville Lutheran Church, 1874 Walnut Bottom Road, Newville, PA 17241.
