Martha Pauline Holtry

Martha Pauline Holtry, 95, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at her home.

She was born on December 12, 1929 in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Melvin E. and Ella Mae Eckenrode Sheaffer. She married Thomas M. Holtry on March 1, 1952. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1992.

Pauline loved to watch wrestling and play bingo and board games. When her eyesight was good, she enjoyed putting puzzles together. She was on several bowling teams and loved to travel, especially taking bus trips. Pauline was fond of watching birds at her bird feeder and the occasional deer that would wonder into her backyard. An animal lover, she would often times feed stray animals, especially one particular cat that stayed around for several years.

Pauline enjoyed singing and loved music, particularly Elvis Presley. She also enjoyed going to the casino, but only if she won. Pauline was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Philadelphia Eagles fan. She was a member of the Sunshine Sunday School, which was in Pumpkin Center before its closure.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffrey (Deborah) Holtry of St. Thomas, and Thomas (Lynne) Holtry of Chambersburg; one daughter, Sandra (Dennis) Beatty of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Jason (Bri) Ecker, Elissa Holtry, Mylenda (Roman) Zeek, Trevor (Kelli) Beatty, and Chadd Beatty; six great-grandchildren; and one brother, Ronald (Sheila) Sheaffer of Huntsville, AL.

In addition to her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Joyce Zeek; one grandson, Donald Zeek; one granddaughter, Brianna Holtry; five brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Pauline will be privately laid to rest alongside her husband in the Spring Hill Cemetery.
