Listen to Obituary

Surrounded by the love of his family, Lohman E. Glass, 88, of Shippensburg, PA, & The Villages, FL, passed away peacefully the afternoon of Thursday, 23 April 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born September 4, 1937, in Chambersburg, PA, he was the eldest son of the late John W. & Bertha M. Glass.

Lohman was a 1956 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School where he played the trumpet in the marching band & was also a member of a local band, “The Rhythm Kids”. Upon graduation, he served his country in the Air Force, stationed in the U.S. & Turkey, 1957-1961. He began a career in the Federal Government encompassing 34 years before retiring from the US Army Logistics Systems Support Agency as a Computer Programmer in 1995. While working full-time, he enrolled as a full-time student at the former Shippensburg State College where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in three years in 1966. He was a member of the former First Lutheran Church & the former Moose Lodge in Chambersburg, PA.

Lohman developed many passions over his lifetime, but his all-time favorites were baseball, flowers & his beloved farm. He often reminisced how he & his friends would make baseballs out of old cloth rags, bound by rubber bands, & participating in makeshift games in an alley by his childhood home. His passion for the game was equally shared by each one of his children. Even though he was their toughest coach & hardest “critic”, they knew he was their biggest supporter never missing a game from little league to high school to college, followed by adult leagues. His passion was obvious when he became a softball coach for the Chambersburg Women’s League where his daughter played under his tutelage during the early 1980s. An avid gardener, flowers in all colors of the rainbow were carefully planted annually for all to enjoy the same beauty he witnessed year-round at his homes in PA & FL. His pride & joy came in the confines of his 75-acre farm where he raised cattle, harvested crops, sponsored annual fishing rodeos, brought unlimited projects to fruition & loved hosting family & friends; the farm was his sanctuary.

A man of long-standing tradition, Easter, Thanksgiving & Christmas were the holidays held closest to his heart as he looked forward to celebrating his Lord & Savior with his family & friends.

Lohman is survived by his wife of 17 years, Kimberly J. Glass of Shippensburg, PA; one son, Scott A. (Annette) Glass of Woodbridge, VA; one daughter, Michelle D. (Edward) Harris of Chambersburg, PA; two grandchildren, Lisa (Lee) Harris of Riverview, FL and Kiana (Garrett) Barilar of Pittsburgh, PA; one great-grandson, Joseph Harris of Riverview, FL; a brother, John (Bonnie) Glass of Chambersburg, PA; a sister, Vickie (John) Holloway of Chambersburg, PA, and numerous nieces & nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Aaron L. Glass in 2020.
