Larry P. Stouffer, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away the evening of Monday, August 18, 2025 at his home.
He was born on Saturday, May 13, 1944 in Orrstown, a son of the late Guy P. and Elizabeth M. Baer Stouffer.
Larry was a 1962 graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School. He worked as a machine operator for 34 years at the former James River/American Can, retiring in 2011. Following retirement, he worked as a custodian for 10 years at Chambersburg Area Middle School and with Schaad Security at Chambersburg Hospital and Knouse Foods. He was known for being handy around the house and always enjoyed fixing and working on things. He especially enjoyed time outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, ice fishing, or cutting wood. Larry was skilled in woodworking and occasionally enjoyed playing bingo.
Larry was a lifetime member of the Pleasant Hall Fire Company and Lurgan Lions Club, where he was very active within the organization. He was also a social member of the Chambersburg American Legion Post #46, AmVets Post #224, Landis-McCleaf Marine Corps League, and B.P.O.E. Elks #600. Larry was also a member of Lurgan United Brethren Church.
He is survived by three children, Christine Stouffer of Shippensburg, Carolyn Bishop of Hillsboro, VA, and Larew Stouffer of Shippensburg; five grandchildren, Kathleen, Evan, Seth, Carly, and Jacob; six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Mason, Emma, Sarah, Logan, and Amanda; one great-great-grandchild, Eli; four siblings, Galen (Andrena) Stouffer of Fayetteville, Jerry (Kathy) Stouffer of Newburg, Arlene (Richard) Coy of Shippensburg, and Marcia (Ken) McDannell of Chambersburg; longtime companion, Marlene Humelsine; and his ex-wife with whom he remained friends with, Ruth Stouffer of Shippensburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Audrey; and four siblings, Frank Stouffer, Jane Weaver, Ruth Allen, and Reba Weller.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Lurgan United Brethren Church with Mr. Carl Ocker officiating. Burial will follow in the Lurgan Cemetery. A viewing will be held the evening prior on Friday, August 22, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lurgan Lions Club, 13978 Cumberland Hwy., Orrstown, PA 17244.
