Larry L. Kelley, 77, of Carlisle, passed away the morning of Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sunday, September 21, 1947 in Shippensburg, a son of the late Herman S. “Sammy” and Martha M. (Lynch) Kelley, Jr.
Larry was a retired truck driver, working for John F. Walters Trucking and Sysco Foods. After retirement, he continued to work as a yard jockey for Penske and Lazar Spot Inc. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post 223, Newville American Legion Post 421, Shippensburg Moose Lodge 2500, and Fraternal Order of Eagles 1299, Carlisle. Larry was also a lifetime member of the Minnequa Social Club and Hub City Club, both in Shippensburg.
Larry enjoyed playing pool, raising his own livestock, and going to auctions. He was the “head honcho” at family butchering events. Larry cherished time spent hunting in Potter County and at the family cabin. He also enjoyed short drives through the mountains with his wife Debbie.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Deborah K. “Debbie” Kelley; one son, Robert Kelley, Sr. and companion Heather; three stepchildren, Jeremy Smith and wife Sharon, Jason Smith and wife Desiree, and April Smith Wildasin and husband Shane; three grandchildren, Amber Groen and husband Joey, John Kelley, and Kerrigan Kelley; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty L. Bauserman and husband Richard, and Linda K. Krebs; and one sister-in-law, Deb Kelley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Kelley; two siblings, Mary Mael and Roger E. Kelley; and one grandson, Robert Kelley, Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Pastor David Newell officiating. Burial will follow in the Cleversburg Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to a local animal shelter of one’s choice.
