Kenneth Brady Leedy

Kenneth Brady Leedy, 91, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the Mercy House, Chambersburg.

He was born on June 30, 1935, the son of the late Elmer W. and Ada B. (Smith) Leedy and married Shelby J. Wingerd on July 1, 1954, in Hagerstown, MD.

Early in life, Kenny worked at Bethlehem Steel, then spent the majority of his working life at the former James River Co., Chambersburg, retiring in 1999 after thirty-nine years of employment. After retirement, Kenny worked for, a period of time, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., and was the custodian of the Greenvillage Church of God, where he was a long-time member.

In his free time, Kenny enjoyed summer trips to the ocean with the family and hunting when he was able. He simply liked being outdoors in general. Kenny enjoyed watching Mountain Men and Maine Cabin Builders on the television and trying new and different restaurants. He especially loved seafood. Kenny loved being around people. He was always very outgoing and never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone. Most importantly though was his large family who he loved to spend as much time with as he possibly could.

In addition to his wife of seventy-two years, Shelby, he is survived by three children, Connie K. Grooms of Chambersburg, Timothy K. Leedy and wife Jeanne of Needmore, and Pamela J. Stevens and husband Ryan of Chambersburg; seven grandchildren, Shawn Lehman and companion Connie of Chambersburg, Matthew Lehman and companion Emily of Chambersburg, Melissa Grooms and husband Jeremiah of Chambersburg, Brooke Carpenter and husband Chad of Chambersburg, Timothy “TJ” Leedy and wife Carissa of Needmore, Andrea Trainor and husband Ty of Sneads Ferry, NC, Nathan Leedy and fiancé Chelsey Lanehart of Chambersburg; and sixteen great grandchildren, Dakota, Jeremiah, and Savannah Grooms, Matthew, Sierra, Sky, and Meadow Lehman, River, Lana, Ryder, and Brooks Leedy, Octavia, Viviana, Helaina, and Odin Trainor, and Bennett Carpenter; two sisters, Bertha Thompson and husband Ralph of Shippensburg and Chloe Duncan of Carlisle, and several nieces and nephews.

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at the Greenvillage Church of God. Pastor Matthew Tosten will officiate. Interment will follow in the Norland Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church.
