John J. Simpson, Jr., 85, of Chambersburg, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Tuesday, January 28, 1941 in Lebanon, PA, he was the son of the late John Joseph and Elizabeth Bernadine (Applegate) Simpson, Sr.

John served in the United States Navy. He worked for many years at Letterkenny Army Depot. After leaving Letterkenny, he ventured into many areas.

He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Chambersburg.

His proudest moment was owning and operating an art gallery with his late wife Marianne.

John was a member of the Charles Nitterhouse VFW Post # 1599, the George Washington Post # 143 F. &A.M., and the Knights of Columbus, all in Chambersburg, PA.

He enjoyed hunting and his Gordon Setters.

He is survived by two daughters, Michele L. (Robert) Carrion, Willow Street, PA, and Anne M. (Chad) Campbell, Orrstown, PA; one granddaughter, Raquel E. Carrion, Lancaster, PA; siblings, Joseph, Timothy, Beth, and Patrick Simpson; close friend Denny; and many neighbors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marianne (Applegate) Simpson, who passed away September 6, 2011.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, with Deacon Edward Gliot as Celebrant. There will be no viewing or visitation.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
