John T. Baum, Sr., 94, of Walnut Bottom, passed away the evening of Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
He was born on July 14, 1931 in Mount Rock, PA, Cumberland County, a son of the late John S. and Pearl S. Hurley Baum. He married Beulah L. Stum on October 23, 1953.
John was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Walnut Bottom and was an airplane mechanic in the United States Air Force, honorably serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Hamilton-Myers VFW Post #6070, and Hub City Club, Shippensburg.
John had a lifelong love of NASCAR, especially the Daytona 500 where he enjoyed attending over the years. His love for racing led him to own a racecar of his own at one point and he even built a racetrack at his house for his children to enjoy with their go-karts. John also found joy in trains, gardening, and hunting and enjoyed collecting coins and bottles.
In addition to his wife of 72 years, Beulah L. Baum, he is survived by two daughters, Lisa J. (Harry) Grabb of Walnut Bottom and Lori J. Radnor of Biglerville; seven grandchildren, D. Ray (Heather) Hamilton, Kailey Radnor, Amy (Michael) Bailey, Anson (Heather) Bilyeu, Tasha (William) Reese Smith, Maia (Robert) Nendza, and Lewis (Nina) Reese; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sara Stone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Jessica Reese and John T. Baum, Jr.; and one sister, Kathryn Whitcomb.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Rev. Sue Hardman-Zimmerman officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Newville. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service.
