Jay LeRoy Lehman

Jay LeRoy Lehman, 78, passed into the loving arms of Jesus in the late afternoon of Tuesday, September 29, 2026. Jay was born on October 25, 1947, the son of the late Anna R. Tanner. Jay was the devoted husband to his wife of 53 years, Barbara Ann Lehman. Together they have three children, Allison Wilson, Jason Lehman and Matthew Lehman all of Newville, PA. Jay was “Pappy” to two grandsons whom he adored; Joshua Wilson (Kaylyn Howerton) of York, PA and Nicholas Wilson of Newville, PA. He was also the very proud “Great-Grand Pappy” to little Sorren. Jay is also survived by his sister Donna Grove (Bill), and several nieces and nephews.

Jay retired from C.H. Masland and Company, where he was a 3rd shift lift truck driver. In his free time, he supported his children and grandchildren in their various activities; enjoyed working outside sawing wood, pulling weeds, and mowing the lawn when he was able; watching Steelers and PSU football; and serving at his church. One of the things Jay treasured the most was his family. He looked forward to and enjoyed everyone being together for holidays, birthdays or just for Sunday dinner. Family beach vacations were especially special to him, as he loved being together and he loved the ocean. He enjoyed food, and no family gathering was complete without an abundance of culinary selections.

Jay was a quiet and gentle man, always interested in the well-being of others. He was compassionate, caring and generous. He was a lifetime member of the Green Spring First Church of God in Newville, PA where he served for many years in Jr. Church, teaching children how to pray and love Jesus. He also enjoyed cooking supper for the families who attended Vacation Bible School each summer. Jay was a faithful member of the New Life Sunday School class.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at the Green Spring First Church of God. Rev. David Williams and Rev. Richard Frederick will officiate. Interment will follow in the adjacent church cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the church.
