Jack A. Barnhart, 86, of Walnut Bottom, passed away the morning of Friday, August 15, 2025 at the Shippensburg Health Care Center.

He was born on February 10, 1939 in Newburg, PA, a son of the late Guy and Ruth Watson Barnhart. He married Linda J. Peiper on January 11, 1971.

Jack retired as the head custodian from Carlisle School District. He also worked as a foreman at the former McCoy’s Electronics in Mt. Holly and was a machinist at Ralph Peiper Auto Parts. Jack had a passion for fishing and was a lifetime member of the Walnut Bottom Rod & Gun Club, American Legion Post #674, Mt. Holly and Hub City Club, Shippensburg. Jack honorably served in the United States Navy.

In addition to his wife of 54 years, Linda J. Barnhart of Walnut Bottom, he is survived by two children, Dawn Barnhart of Enola and Marsha (Matthew) Ney of Blandon, PA; two grandchildren, Xander and Zoey Ney; and one sister, Ethel Lehman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eight siblings, June Louise Hammond, Harold M. Barnhart, Mary Eleanor Sweger, Edith Lorene Dunn, Marion G. Stouffer, Donald W. Barnhart, Lee Russell Barnhart, and Roberta Bitner.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Per Jack’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Jacksonville Cemetery in Walnut Bottom with Pastor Bruce Levy officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223, 100 Dykeman Rd., Shippensburg, PA 17257.
