Ira G. “Jerry” Plasterer, 82, departed this life on the evening of Saturday, February 21, 2026, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on July 3, 1943, in Shippensburg, a son of the late H. Scott and Margaret (Naugle) Plasterer. Jerry married Constance Gibble on August 25, 1962. She preceded him in death just a little over three months ago, on November 15, 2025.

Jerry worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-five years, retiring in 1997, as postmaster of the Shady Grove, PA, post office.

He was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ, Shippensburg, and the Pennsylvania Masonic and Tall Cedars Lodges. Jerry was a big lover of the Dachshund dog breed and had many throughout his life. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and especially oil painting, landscapes being his most common subject matter.

Jerry is survived by his son, Kevin A. Plasterer and wife Kris of Shippensburg; his daughter, Karen A. Horne and husband Jeffrey of Shippensburg; three grandchildren, Ryan S. Plasterer of Shippensburg, Amy L. Plasterer of Shippensburg, and Justin D. Horne of Shippensburg; two brothers, Charles S. and Ray E. Plasterer, both of Chambersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and spouse of sixty-three years, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Myrtle N. McNeil.

His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. There will be no public viewing, visitation, or funeral service. Interment will also be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter at 5150 Letterkenny Road West, Chambersburg, PA 17202.
