Helen May Burkholder

Helen May Burkholder, 94, of Newburg, passed away the evening of Saturday, September 5, 2026, with her loving family by her side.

She was born on March 17, 1932 in Hopewell Township, Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Frank Guy and Mildred May Holtry Rotz.

Helen was a 1950 graduate of Shippensburg Senior High School and longtime member of Newburg First Church of God. She loved bowling in her younger years, but her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed spending time watching her husband play baseball and her daughter and grandchildren at their softball and baseball games.

She is survived by two daughters, Dianne L. (Harry) Killian of Newburg, and Wanda S. (David) Zeigler of Newburg; five grandchildren, Brandon (Joann) Killian of Shippensburg, Heather (Travis) Wilson, Colton (Sarah) Zeigler, Carsyn Zeigler, and Caleb Zeigler, all of Newburg; five great-grandchildren, Liam Killian, Adalyn Killian, Brycen Killian, Maverick Zeigler, and Jaxton Killian; numerous nieces and nephews, some of which she loved as if they were her own; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Albert Burkholder, who passed away on February 12, 1994. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Teresa Jane Burkholder; five sisters, Minerva Culbertson, Ardella Rotz, Rose Bender, Mildred Daihl, and Edith Kitzmiller; and two brothers, Melvin Rotz and Dana Rotz.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg with Pastor Wayne Good officiating. Burial will follow at Mongul Cemetery. A viewing will be held Friday, September 11, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
