Harry R. Thomas, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away the evening of Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at his home, with his loving family by his side.
He was born on June 25, 1937 in Fayetteville, PA, a son of the late Reuben J. and Ethel Mae Henderson Thomas.
Harry worked as a groundskeeper for various different employers, retiring in 2010. He was a United States Air Force veteran, honorably serving during the Korean Conflict. Harry was also a lifetime member of the Minnequa Social Club, former member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223 and attended Mongul United Brethren Church in his younger years. Harry enjoyed fishing and loved to work outside in his flower garden and trim trees.
He is survived by five children, Robert H. Thomas of Coal Township, David E. (Kathy) Thomas of Georgia, Tim L. (Leslie) Thomas of Shippensburg, Karen K. (Rodney) Baugher of Shippensburg, and Mitchell L. (Cathy) Thomas of Fayetteville; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Doris M. Smith Thomas, who passed away on May 12, 2014. Also preceding in death are two brothers, Norman Thomas and Charlie Thomas; one sister, Florence Stine; and three grandchildren, Christopher L. Thomas, Timmy J. Thomas, and Robert Lee O’Hara.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. Rev. Marlin A. “Butch” Neil will officiate. Military honors will be conducted by The Minutemen of the American Legion Post #223.
Harry’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg.
