Harold Milton Bender, 95, of Carlisle, departed this life on the morning of Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Green Ridge Village, Newville.
He was born on September 14, 1931, in Newburg, a son of the late David and Ida Florence (Kauffman) Bender. Harold married Marie K. Calvert on June 10, 1955. She preceded him in death on April 16, 2004.
Harold worked for the former Valley Baking Co. as a route supervisor, at the former Kay & Rays factory in Newville, and as a carpenter for Jesse Stitt. In his free time, Harold liked to work on cars and he was always an animal lover all throughout his life. He was a member of the Newburg First Church of God.
He is survived by two sons, James D. Bender and wife Sharon of Carlilse and Dwayne H. Bender and wife Nancy Hedge of Newburg; step grandchildren, Robin Scherer and husband Michael, Heather Eickhoff and husband Michael, and Paul Walter, Jr., and wife Taryn, all of Boiling Springs; six step great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by seven siblings.
His funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, October 2, 2026, in the Newburg First Church of God. Pastor Megan Gustafson will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Viewing will be one hour prior to the service on Friday afternoon at the church.
