Galen S. Asper

Galen S. Asper, 89, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, January 18, 2026.

He was born on July 21, 1936, in Shippensburg, a son of the late Hugh and Frances (Stoey) Asper.

Galen farmed for the majority of his life and was also a long-time elected supervisor of Shippensburg Township for over twenty years. He was a member of the Hub City Club, a charter member of the Shippensburg Moose Lodge #2500, and loved horse racing, as he owned several race horses over the years.

He is survived by a daughter, Roxanne C. Asper of Shippensburg; a son, Wade L. Asper and wife Linda of Shippensburg; three grandchildren; two great grandsons; a brother, Glenn Asper of Raystown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife of over sixty years, Jeanette Ann (Yost) Asper, Galen was preceded in death by a daughter, Rosalie A. Asper; and a brother, Kenneth Asper.

A celebration of Galen’s life will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the Shippensburg Moose Lodge #2500 at 32 Walnut Bottom Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.
