Fred Joseph Pyne, 79, of Newville, passed away Monday, March 16, 2026 at his home.

Born on the family farm Monday, February 24, 1947 on Clover Hill Road in Newburg, where he was raised, he was a son of the late Charles Leon and Mary Catherine King Pyne.

He was a member of the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church. Fred was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.

He worked construction for many years and later worked at Letterkenny Army Depot with 14 years of service.

Fred co-founded and operated the Blue Mountain Food Pantry alongside his wife Billie for over 20 years. He was an avid trapper and enjoyed trout fishing.

He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Billie Lee Gift Pyne, whom he married December 7, 1968; two daughters, Kathy (John) Myers, and Susie (Todd) Killinger; four grandchildren, Amanda and Joseph Myers, Samantha Arce, and Emma Wadel; four great-grandchildren, Wesley and Bradley Zeigler, Mason and Judith Wadel; three siblings, John Pyne, Janet Culbertson, and Catherine Stewart; and Lady the Dog.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Cromwell, Iva Jean Piper, and infant sister, Helen Pyne; and four brothers, Jay, Charles, Robert, and Donald Pyne.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Burial will be private in Otterbein Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mowersville Brethren in Christ Church, 14924 W. Creek Road, Newburg, PA 17240.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium Inc.
