Ethel L. Cover, 85, of Newburg, passed away the morning of Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
She was born on Wednesday, July 31, 1940 in Southampton Township, Cumberland County, a daughter of the late Ralph W. and Edna G. Piper Ocker.
Ethel worked as a licensed practical nurse for both Chambersburg Hospital and ManorCare Health Services, Chambersburg. She was a faithful member of Ridge Church of the Brethren, where she was active in the Helping Hands Sunday School, church choir, and Women’s Fellowship. Ethel was also active in the Ruomi Group and Jolly Seniors. She was a member of Franklin County Society of Farm Women Group #2 and life member of Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary. Ethel was an avid reader and enjoyed doing word searches.
She is survived by two children, Michael L. (Leslie) Cover of Newburg and Diana M. (James) Sikes of Orrstown; four grandchildren, Jessica (Paul) Alexander, Daniel (Ruth) Thompson, Jeremy (Janet) Thompson, and Kenny (Nicole) Sikes; 14 great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Kenneth E. Ocker of Shippensburg and E. Jane (Robert) Vaughn of Shippensburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee A. Cover who passed away on August 5, 2002. Also preceding in death are two brothers, Robert L. Ocker and Wayne E. Ocker.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. with Rev. Harold E. Yeager officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
