Elizabeth L. Palmer

Elizabeth Ann Leach Palmer passed away surrounded by loving family on Thursday, August 8, 2024, just five days short of her 98th birthday. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years James Palmer, infant son James Michael Palmer, and two brothers. She leaves six children, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She also embraced numerous foster children and foreign exchange students who became part of her extended family.

Elizabeth grew up in various locations in Pennsylvania. She graduated from Chambersburg High School and Juniata College. She was a master educator who delighted in teaching elementary age students in PA, MA, and VA. She and Jim traveled extensively over six continents spreading their love of knowledge everywhere they stayed. She was an active member of the Philanthropic Education Organization for 47 years, Shippensburg Civic Club, the Audubon Society and St. Andrew’s Church.

Her smile, competitive game playing, love of gardening and bird watching, as well as exploratory cooking will be missed. Elizabeth’s funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. in Shippensburg. Her celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date and time.
