Elam R. Martin

Elam R. Martin, 75, of 150 Quarry Hill Rd., Shippensburg, PA, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025 after a short battle with cancer.

He was born to the late David A. and Lizzie (Reiff) Martin. He married Frances (Zimmerman) Weaver on March 29, 1973.

He was a member of the Meadow View Old Order Mennonite Church and a retired farmer. He currently had still enjoyed his craft and wood working shop at home.

Surviving is his wife of 52 years; five daughters and two sons and their spouses, Minerva (Freeman Dale) Miller of Millersburg, OH, Irvin (Alma Weaver) Martin of Carlisle, PA, Lois (John Ivan) Hurst of Shippensburg, PA, Susan (Clarence) Zimmerman of Newville, PA, Vera (Leon) Newswanger of Shippensburg, PA, Ernest (Elaine Sauder) Martin of Shippensburg, PA, and Lucy (Kevin) Oberholtzer of Shippensburg, PA.

Also left to mourn his absence are 48 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four brothers and three sisters, Amos (married to Martha) Martin of Shippensburg, PA, Mabel (Mrs. Isaac Martin) of Shilo, OH, Rachel (Mrs. John Horning) of New Holland, PA, Lawrence (married to Arlene) Martin of Shippensburg, Lena (Mrs. Paul Weaver) of Shippensburg, PA, Luke (married to Lois) Martin of Shippensburg, PA, and Reuben (married to Margaret) Martin of Shippensburg, PA.

Preceding him in death were his parents; daughter, Naomi (Dec. 2023); grandson, Larry Newswanger; and great-granddaughter, Sawyer Grace Fleischmann.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Meadow View Old Order Mennonite Church, 169 Hair Road, Newville, PA 17241. The church ministry will officiate. Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Martin residence, 150 Quarry Hill Road, Shippensburg, PA 17257.

His family kindly requests the omission of flowers.
