Edna Denise (Sites) Bricker Foreman, 99, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the morning of Sunday, May 11, 2025.
She was born on January 29, 1926, in Clear Spring, Maryland, a daughter of the late George A. and Mamie C. (Funkhouser) Sites. Edna married Bruce Milburn Foreman, Jr., on May 28, 2005, in at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Hagerstown.
Edna earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Wilson College in 1948 and a certificate in French from Magill University, Montreal, Canada. She taught French and English at the Chambersburg Area Senior High School for twenty six years, and was a French teacher at Ashley Hall, Charleston, SC, retiring in 1989.
Edna was a member of the National Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, and the Chambersburg Area Education Association. She was also a member of the Franklin County Wilson College Alumnae Club, the Wilson College Book Club, and the Zion Reformed Church, all of Chambersburg.
In addition to her husband of twenty years, Bruce, she is survived by two daughters, Mara C. Smith of Chambersburg and Malee D. Cook of Waynesboro; son, Anton G. Bricker and wife Ingrid of Jessup, MD; sister, Alita Lichtenwalter of Addison, TX; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Edna was preceded in death by her first husband, William C. Bricker, who died in 2002; three sisters, Carmen Cormany, Phyllis Hill, and Constance Wessells; and her brother, Ancil Sites.
Her memorial service will be tentatively held at 1:00 p.m., on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Zion Reformed Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Tom Dunkle will officiate. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow. Edna will then be laid to rest in the Broadfording Cemetery in Hagerstown.
