Doris Ann Hey, 87, formerly of Shippensburg, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on January 31, 1939 in Newburg, PA, a daughter of the late Raymond and Rosa Barnhart Alleman. She married Boyd L. Hey on June 20, 1959.

Doris was a 1956 graduate of Shippensburg Area High School. She then went on to obtain her Bachelor’s Degree from Huntingdon College and Masters of Education from Shippensburg State College. Doris worked as an elementary school reading specialist at Chambersburg Area School District for 30+ years. She was a faithful member of Prince Street United Brethren Church. Over the years her involvement at the church included being a youth group leader, quiz team leader, holding a position on the church board, singing in the choir, and serving with the Women’s Missionary Fellowship. Doris was also an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to her husband of 67 years, Boyd L. Hey, she is survived by three sons, Benett Hey, Bryan (Bernice) Hey, and Burt (Tana) Hey; seven grandchildren, Laura (Andrew) Stevens, Kyle (Mary) Hey, Brandt (Rachael) Hey, Brent (Alicia) Hey, Bethany Hey, Rosa Hey, and Jesse (Emma) Hey; 10 great-grandchildren, Garrett and Tanner Stevens, Cecilia, Clayton, Caelan, Adelyn, Matthias, Mabel, Emerson, and Tobias Hey; and three siblings, Elizabeth Barner, Lois Timmons, and Ralph Alleman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Debra Hey; one great-grandchild, Baby May Hey; and four siblings, Bob Alleman, Don Alleman, Martha Reineman, and John Alleman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince Street United Brethren Church with Pastor John Shadle and Pastor James Bolich officiating. Burial will follow at Parklawns Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held Sunday, August 16, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church.
