Dolores P. Wargo, 86, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, February 20, 2026 at the Mercy House of Chambersburg, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Thursday, August 3, 1939 in Shippensburg, she was a daughter of the late Harry Hockenberry and Margaret A. Bigler Smith, and a stepdaughter of the late Charles W. Smith.

She was a 1959 graduate of the Shippensburg Area Senior High School. Dolores was a member of the Shippensburg Church of Christ.

Dolores worked for Carothers & Hoffman, G. C. Murphy, Nettie Fox, and was a noon aide at James Burd and Nancy Grayson Elementary Schools in Shippensburg.

She was a member of the Vigilant Hose Company Ladies Auxiliary where she was a Charter Member, Past President, and Trustee. She was the first active woman to join the Vigilant Hose Company, where she was a 48 year member. She was also a member of the Cumberland Valley Hose Company, the Cumberland County Fireman’s Association, the Cumberland Valley Volunteer Fireman’s Association, the Vigilant Hose Company Fire Police, the Cumberland County Fire Police, and the State Fire Police Association. For many years, she was a Den Mother for Pack 121.

Dolores was a wonderful Gram, who kept her grandchildren Seth and Logan. She loved her great grandbabies, Eli, Leo, and Eve. She made the best blueberry tart and peanut butter fudge. Her favorite colors were orange and brown, and we would like everyone in attendance to wear these colors.

She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth F. Robinson, Shippensburg; one son, Bradley C. (Linda) Myers, Mechanicsburg; three grandchildren, Seth B. (Michelle) Robinson, Chambersburg, Logan A. (Catherine Baer) Robinson, Orrstown, and Shane M. Myers, Irwin; four great-grandchildren, Makennan D., Eli D., Leo C., and Eve M. Robinson, all of Chambersburg; first husband and good friend, Charles E. Myers, Orrstown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Michael R. Wargo, who passed away August 31, 2008; one brother, Terry Beecher; and two sisters, Rita McMullen and Helen White.

Dolores’s family would like to express a special thank you to the Chambersburg ICU Department, and the Mercy House of Chambersburg for their excellent care during her stay.
