Diana L. Ferrell, 81, of Chambersburg, passed away the afternoon of Friday, October 10, 2025 at her home with her loving family by her side.
She was born on Monday, June 5, 1944 in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Harold E. and Mabel C. Stamey Baer, Sr. She married Charles P. Ferrell on December 2, 1963.
Diana was a 1962 graduate of Chambersburg High School and retired from Shippensburg University as an administrative assistant in the Dean’s Office of Arts and Sciences. A devoted member of Grace Brethren Church in Chambersburg, Diana was active in their Sunday School and Bible School programs. She also volunteered her time with the church’s after school youth activities. She had a lifelong passion for horseback riding and was a former member of Gettysburg Equestrian Historical Society. In her later years she was blessed with a wonderful horse, Bojangles, and they had many trail rides together. She enjoyed staying active and was a regular at the Chambersburg YMCA. In her younger years, she enjoyed running marathons and loved riding her bicycle.
Diana’s family was very important to her, as well as her church family. She was blessed with many friends and a wonderful life.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Charles P. Ferrell of Chambersburg; one daughter, Kimberly S. Ferrell of Orrstown; three grandchildren, Kristen Ferrell, Heather Stepler, and Hanah Ferrell; six great-grandchildren, Jake, Eowyn, Jamie, Andre, Veronica and Jade; and three siblings, Harold E. (Janice) Baer, Jr. of Lurgan, Mary C. (Frank) Becraft of Carlisle, and R. Kay (Terry) Fauver of Newburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Nathan A. Stepler.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Per Diana’s wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
