Dennis R. Mathna

Dennis R. Mathna, 73, of Shippensburg, departed this life on the evening of Friday, August 22, 2025, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Harrisburg.

He was born on August 3, 1952, in Chambersburg, a son of the late Bruce and Jean (Mowery) Mathna. Dennis married Margie J. Bricker on March 16, 1996, in Hagerstown, MD.

Dennis worked at the Letterkenny Army Depot as a boiler operator and an electronics inspector for over thirty years, retiring in 2007. He was a social member of the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, Shippensburg.

In younger years, Dennis liked to work on cars, machinery, and really anything mechanical. He could fix pretty much anything in that regard. Dennis also enjoyed traveling to Ocean City, MD, and Williamsburg, VA, to vacation with his family. In his free time he liked to play games on the computer and throughout his life he always had a great love for dogs, having many over the years.

In addition to his wife of twenty-nine years, Margie, he is survived by two daughters, Rose Perkins and husband Justin of East Stroudsburg, and Beth Perkins and husband Brandon of Sinking Spring; a step-son, Steven L. Kinley, Jr., and wife Venus Snoke of Chambersburg; two grandchildren, Avery and Lorelei Perkins; two brothers, Larry Mathna and wife Vicki, and Robert Mathna and wife Karin of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Friday, August 29, 2025, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Bruce Levy will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mongul Cemetery. Viewing will be one hour prior to the funeral on Friday morning at the funeral home.
