Debra Jean Hey

Debra Jean Hey, 65, of Shippensburg, passed away the morning of Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on August 23, 1960, in Carlisle, a daughter of Kenneth L. and G. Virginia Hinkle Hoover of Shippensburg. She married Benett L. Hey on June 12, 1982, at Prince Street United Brethren Church.

Deb was a 1978 graduate of Big Spring High School and worked for 26 years as a learning support teacher’s aide at James Burd Elementary School in Shippensburg. A member of Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church, Deb was rooted in her faith. She was a devoted prayer warrior and faithful in prayer to friends. She enjoyed being outdoors, loved family vacations to the beach, and appreciated time spent with her “Sisters” group. Above all else, Deb loved and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband of 43 years, Benett L. Hey of Shippensburg, she is survived by two children, Laura J. (Andrew) Stevens of Greencastle and Kyle B. (Mary) Hey of Dillsburg; and four grandchildren, Garrett Stevens, Tanner Stevens, Cecilia Hey, and Clayton Hey.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Brethren Church. Pastor James Bolich and Pastor Gary Hornbaker will officiate. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
