Dana H. Rotz, 83, of Shippensburg, died on Friday, June 10, 2011, at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born on January 5, 1928, in Newburg, a son of the late Frank and Mildred Holtry Rotz.
Dana was a U.S. Army Veteran.
In July of 1950, Dana married Ms. Janice L. Helmuth in Chambersburg. She preceded him in death on April 27, 2006.
Dana was employed as a carpenter for Shippensburg University, where he retired from. He also owned and operated his own saw and sharpening shop out of his home since the 60’s.
He was a member of the Mongul United Brethren Church, the Oscar M. Hykes American Legion Post #223, the Hub City Club, and the Minnequa Social Club. He was also a former member of the Cumberland Valley Hose Co., # 53, all of Shippensburg.
Dana is survived by one son, Kenneth L. Rotz of Shippensburg; four sisters, Rose (David) Bender, Helen Burkholder, and Edith Kitzmiller, all of Newburg and Mildred (Donald) Daihl of Shippensburg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice; a son, Gary Rotz; one brother, Melvin Rotz; and two sisters, Minerva Culbertson and Ardela Rotz.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home, Inc., Shippensburg. The Rev. James O. Bolich will officiate. Interment will be in the Mongul Cemetery. Viewing will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at 417 Phoenix Dr. Chambersburg, PA 17201.
