Christine A. Varner

Christine A. Varner, 76, departed this life on the evening of Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the Laurel Lakes Rehabilitation and Wellness Center, Chambersburg.

She was born on March 6, 1949, in Chambersburg, a daughter of the late Charles and Betty (Gabler) Gardner and married Ray E. Varner on July 15, 1978, in Carlisle.

Christine worked at Carlisle Tire and Rubber, the Beistle Company, and Wal-Mart throughout her life. She attended the Newburg First Church of God and enjoyed camping and taking trips to the ocean.

In addition to her husband of forty-seven years, Ray, she is survived by three children, Craig A. Bittinger and wife Dianna of Newburg, Toby C. Varner and wife Diana of Culpeper, VA, and Jacee R. Varner of Shippensburg; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great great grandchildren; sister, Jane L. Bender and husband Richard of Newburg; sister-in-law, Gail Nailor of Newburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Christine was preceded in death by her brother, Tony A. Gardner.

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at the Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Pastor Megan Gustafson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Otterbein Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday morning at the funeral home.
