Charles E. Carey

Charles E. “Butch” Carey, 82, of Orrstown, passed away the afternoon of Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Chambersburg Hospital.

He was born on July 9, 1943 in Chambersburg, a son of the late George W. and Thelma G. (Schuman) Carey, Sr.

Butch was a 1962 graduate of Shippensburg Senior High School. He loved being outdoors, especially hunting, doing yard work, and gardening, particularly growing tomatoes. Butch also enjoyed sitting on his back porch with his cat. Above all else, he loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by two children, Lisa D. Carey and husband Robert Funari of Chambersburg, and Michael C. Carey and husband Harry Fromme of Sanford, FL; three grandchildren, Elaina Vaughn and significant other Nathan Fluss, Spencer Vaughn, and Rebekah Kraynek and husband Bryan; five great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Brendon, Braxton, Kyran, and Nora; two brothers, Richard Carey and wife Karen of Shippensburg, and Geary Carey and wife Raquel of Philadelphia; one sister, Judy Yohe of Shippensburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy D. (Fletcher) Carey, who passed away on March 3, 2022. He was also preceded in death by one brother, George W. Carey, Jr.; and one sister, Bonnie Kriner.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., Shippensburg. Per Butch’s wishes, there will be no public viewing, visitation, or service. Interment will be private.
