Carol A. Peiper

Carol A. Peiper, 81, of Chambersburg, departed this life on the afternoon of Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the WellSpan Chambersburg Hospital.

She was born on August 30, 1944, in Carlisle, a daughter of the late Paul E. and Margaret (Strayer) Murtorff and married Habard W. Peiper on April 1, 1963, in Carlisle, PA.

Earlier in life, Carol was employed at the Chambersburg Area School District, eight years as the head cook of Stevens Elementary School, and twenty-five years as a bus driver. She then worked in customer service at the Butcher Shoppe, from where she retired.

She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Chambersburg and a member of A.A.R.P. In her free time she enjoyed reading, all animals, (especially her dogs), and was well known for her love of gardening and her many beautiful flower beds.

In addition to her husband of sixty-three years, Habard, she is survived by her son, Christopher W. Peiper and wife Lynda of Fayetteville; her daughter, Heather A. Peiper of Fayetteville; two grandsons, Zachery Peiper of South Carolina and Joshua Noack of Chambersburg; a great grandson; two brothers, Charles Murtorff of Charlotte North Carolina, and James Murtorff of South Carolina; three sisters, Vonda Rhodes of Atlanta, GA, Dawn Jasperson of Henderson, NV, and Brenda Euker of Florida.

In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Riker.

Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, September 19, 2026, in the Calvary Baptist Church, Chambersburg. The Rev. Kent Lundy will officiate. Interment will be private. Visitation will be concurrent with a time of food and fellowship following her memorial service.
