Carla Hedges

Carla Louise Schaefer Hedges, of Shippensburg, PA., passed away on August 19th at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Benjamin Ayres Hedges. Together they raised 2 daughters, have 6 grandchildren (two of whom are Marines), and 3 great-grandchildren.

Carla was born in Washington, D.C., attended Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, MD, and earned her Nursing Diploma at Capital City School of Nursing in Washington, D.C. Throughout her years, she has worked as a nurse, an EMT, and as a Community College nursing instructor. Carla owned and operated a yarn store, fulfilling her dream of sharing her passion for knitting and crocheting. She has lived in Iowa, Virginia, Maryland, New York, and Pennsylvania. Carla was an avid stitcher and knitter and was a member of many crafting groups. She is a member of Newburg United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held at a later date and time.
